Top story: Newcastle fend off Liverpool, Arsenal interest in Gordon
Newcastle United are willing to make winger Anthony Gordon their highest-paid player to help fend off interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old England international enjoyed a fruitful 2023-24 campaign with the Magpies, notching 11 goals and ten assists in 35 Premier League outings, attracting significant interest in the process. Liverpool reportedly spent much of the summer pursuing a deal for the Everton academy graduate, Arsenal are said to be closely monitoring the situation.
Newcastle are prepared to offer Gordon £9 million a year. Failure to agree fresh terms will give hope to interested parties, with the player’s contract expiring at the end of the 2025-26 season.
