Commanders QB Jayden Daniels throws 18-yard TD pass to Terry McLaurin

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has excelled this season completing touchdown passes on throws with a low chance for completion. He did it again Sunday to end the first half vs. the New York Giants.

With six seconds left in the half, Daniels connected with receiver Terry McLaurin for an 18-yard touchdown pass — lofting a perfect ball over the head of corner Deonte Banks for a 21-7 lead.

McLaurin got Banks to bite by faking to the inside, then cutting to the outside. That left Banks in retreat mode and McLaurin caught the pass.

Daniels entered the game with an NFL-high four touchdown passes that had a 30% chance of completion or less. This added to it, as NFL Next Gen Stats considered this touchdown to have a 25% chance of completion.

Daniels finished the first half 9-of-11 for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with McLaurin on a 1-yard slant pass for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Daniels now has nine touchdown passes.
