College football’s Rivalry Week certainly delivered. Great games and potential College Football Playoff chaos.
While the No. 1 Oregon Ducks cruised past the Washington Huskies, others in the top 10 weren’t so lucky. The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes were stunned by the unranked Michigan Wolverines. It was OSU’s fourth consecutive loss to Michigan. This one cost the Buckeyes a trip to the Big Ten title game and a first-round bye. Instead, the Penn State Nittany Lions will face Oregon for the Big Ten title and, potentially, the top overall seed in the CFP.
The Miami Hurricanes, ranked No. 6 last week, blew a 21-point lead to the Syracuse Orange and lost a chance to play for the ACC championship. Instead, the Clemson Tigers will meet the SMU Mustangs in Charlotte. The loss could cost the ACC multiple bids to the CFP and open the door to more two- or three-loss teams from the SEC or Big Ten.
