The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are releasing six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.
Slay’s release will be designated as a post-June 1 transaction, saving the Eagles $4.3 million against the salary cap.
The Eagles have several key players set to hit free agency next week, including linebacker Zack Baun, defensive end Josh Sweat and guard Mekhi Becton.
Slay, 34, has played the past five seasons for the Eagles. Last season, he appeared in 14 games and was credited with 13 passes defended a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and 49 tackles.
He began his career with the Detroit Lions, who selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft.
He has 28 interceptions in 12 seasons.
