Cards stop draft slide for CB Johnson at No. 47

Michigan cornerback Will Johnson‘s slide in the NFL draft stopped with the Arizona Cardinals in the second round Friday.

Arizona took Johnson, once a projected first-round pick, with the 47th selection despite a knee injury that apparently concerned teams enough not to pick him in Thursday’s opening round.

Johnson played in just six games in 2024 because of a turf toe injury. He didn’t participate in drills at the NFL scouting combine, and a hamstring injury prevented him from participating in Michigan’s pro day.

Johnson held a private workout for teams 11 days ago but did not run the 40-yard dash.

Johnson, who finished as the No. 10 prospect on ESPN’s consensus predraft board, could immediately compete for one of the Cardinals’ starting corner jobs.
