Dak Prescott’s scramble leads to wild Rico Dowdle TD for Cowboys

ATLANTA — It will go down as a 3-yard touchdown catch by running back Rico Dowdle, but it was so much more than that for the Dallas Cowboys.

On second-and-goal, quarterback Dak Prescott was nearly sacked by Arnold Ebiketie, then ducked away from Grady Jarrett. After gathering his footing, Prescott floated a pass to the end zone at an open Dowdle, who bobbled the ball multiple times before completely securing the catch while on his back after taking a hit from cornerback Dee Alford.

The touchdown cut the Falcons’ lead to 14-10 with 4:01 left in the first half.

Rarely has a 3-yard touchdown catch been so difficult, but that’s been the 3-4 Cowboys’ season.

On the drive, Prescott ripped off a 22-yard scramble for a first down. He entered Sunday with 24 yards rushing on the season. Receiver CeeDee Lamb and Dowdle ripped off runs for 18 and 15 yards, respectively. The Cowboys entered Sunday without a run of 15 yards or more on the season. They had three on that drive.
