Bald River Falls Bridge and Tellico River Road Set to Reopen May 30

After months of construction, the Bald River Falls Bridge and a portion of Tellico River Road in Monroe County are scheduled to reopen on May 30, 2025. The Monroe County Department of Tourism announced the reopening, marking the restoration of access to one of East Tennessee's most scenic attractions.

The bridge, originally constructed in the 1930s, underwent significant reconstruction to address safety concerns and enhance visitor experience. The new design includes a dedicated pedestrian viewing platform, separated from vehicular traffic by a concrete barrier, allowing visitors to safely enjoy the 90-foot waterfall and surrounding trails. https://www.wvlt.tv

Bald River Falls, located within the Cherokee National Forest, is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and is a popular destination for tourists and nature enthusiasts. The closure of the bridge and adjacent road had limited access to the area, impacting local tourism and businesses.

With the reopening, visitors can once again enjoy the natural splendor of Bald River Falls. The Monroe County Department of Tourism encourages travelers to plan their visits accordingly and to be mindful of increased traffic as the area welcomes back tourists.
