Georgia Football Brings Back Familiar Face: Jaden Hunter Hired as Defensive Analyst

The Georgia Bulldogs are adding a familiar name to their coaching staff, as former linebacker Jaden Hunter has officially been hired as a defensive analyst, the program announced this week.
Hunter, a member of Georgia’s 2017 signing class under head coach Kirby Smart, brings both playing and coaching experience to the role. The son of late Georgia linebacker Brice Hunter, Jaden’s return to Athens marks a full-circle moment for a player once viewed as one of the state’s top defensive prospects.
“Jaden has a strong understanding of our culture and defensive philosophy,” said Coach Smart in a statement. “He’s grown tremendously as a coach and brings a passion for the game that we value in our staff room.”
After two seasons with the Bulldogs, Hunter transferred to Western Kentucky, where he finished his college career and earned All-Conference USA honors. Following graduation, he began his coaching journey with stints at Georgia State and Buford High School, where he worked closely with linebackers and defensive backs.
Now, back in Athens, Hunter is expected to assist with film breakdown, game planning, and practice preparation, offering insight from his time both on the field and on the sidelines.
“This place means everything to me,” Hunter said in a post on social media. “To come back and help the program that shaped me is an incredible honor. I’m ready to work.”
Hunter’s addition continues Georgia’s recent trend of hiring former players and staffers who understand the program's expectations and championship standards. With a new season approaching and the Bulldogs once again among the preseason favorites, Hunter’s return adds another layer of depth to an already experienced defensive coaching staff.
Georgia opens the 2025 season on August 30 against Georgia Southern.
