Chattanooga native Ace Bailey drafted 5th overall in NBA Draft

Chattanooga has a wide array of famous sports figures that have called the 423 home. Add Ace Bailey to the list.
The Scenic City native was drafted fifth overall by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday night in New York.
Bailey was born and raised here in Chattanooga. He played one year of high school basketball at Boyd-Buchanan before finishing his prep career at McEachern in Powder Spring, GA.
Bailey would go on to play one year of college ball at Rutgers. His teammate with the Scarlet Knights, Dylan Harper, was also selected Wednesday night. Harper went second overall to the San Antonio Spurs.
Bailey now takes his talents west to Salt Lake City in hopes of adding to the rich tradition of Jazz basketball with a little Chattanooga flare.
