📰 Tippens’ 13th-Inning Heroics Lift Raiders Over Bears in Marathon Thriller

By GSN Staff

CLEVELAND, TN — On a night originally meant for a standard rivalry matchup, the Cleveland Blue Raiders and Bradley Central Bears instead delivered a three-and-a-half-hour masterpiece that required nearly two full games' worth of innings to decide. In the end, it was senior captain Caden Tippens who sent the home crowd into a frenzy, lining a walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th to secure a 2-1 victory for Cleveland.

The Pitching Masterclass

For the first six innings, the story was written entirely from the pitcher's mound. Cleveland’s Owen Golio and Bradley’s Connor Burns traded zeros in a classic duel. Golio was nearly untouchable, racking up 10 strikeouts and carrying a no-hitter into the fifth. Burns was equally impressive, scattering four hits and leaning on a devastating breaking ball to keep the Raiders off balance.

Cleveland finally broke the ice in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Coleman, who finished the night with three hits, used his signature speed to spark a rally, scoring on a wild pitch to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Seventh Inning Drama

The lead was short-lived. In the top of the seventh, Bradley Central proved why they are never out of a game. After a Cleveland throwing error put a runner in scoring position, Jaden Griffey delivered the biggest hit of regulation, a towering double that rattled off the wall to tie the game at 1-1.

The tension reached a boiling point in the 10th inning when Bradley Central manager Travis Adams was ejected following a heated argument over a hit-by-pitch call. The ejection served as a lightning rod for both fanbases, turning the final three innings into a high-pressure cauldron.

The Battle of the Bullpens

As the starters exited, the relief corps took over with stunning efficiency. Cleveland’s Colin Stewart threw over six innings of scoreless relief, matching the heat of Bradley’s Tyler Cook, who provided five innings of two-hit ball.

The deadlock finally snapped in the 13th. After Case Mahoney and Braden Harris reached base, Tippens stepped to the plate with two outs. On a 3-1 count, Tippens stayed back on a Jameson Baggett offering and laced it into the gap, scoring the winning run and ending the marathon.

Looking Ahead

The win gives Cleveland a 1-0 lead in the three-game series, but there is no time to rest. These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at Bradley Central High School, where the Bears will look to even the score on their home turf.

"This is a game these kids will talk about when they're in their thirties," said announcer Alex Everly. "Thirteen innings of one-run baseball in this rivalry? You can't ask for more than that."

GSN Concession Stand Rating of the Night: 🍟 French Fries: 5/5 (Golden, crispy, and the only thing that lasted as long as the game).
