It was an exciting night on the hardwood with big performances across the area.

The Tennessee Volunteers battled through double overtime to edge Texas A&M, 87–82, in a thrilling SEC showdown that kept fans on their feet until the final buzzer.

In high school action, the Bradley Bearettes dominated East Hamilton with an 88–36 victory, while the Bradley boys added another win for the Bears, defeating East Hamilton 64–— in boys play.

The Cleveland Blue Raiders swept Howard in convincing fashion. The girls cruised to an 88–16 win, and the boys followed up with a strong 60–38 victory.

At Ooltewah, the Lady Owls picked up a solid 48–36 win over Walker Valley. The Mustangs answered in the boys matchup, however, rolling past Ooltewah 75–35.

In major football news, longtime Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has stepped down after 19 seasons with the franchise. Tomlin leaves the NFL as the longest-tenured head coach in the league and remarkably never posted a losing season during his time in Pittsburgh.

According to ESPN, Tomlin is not expected to coach next season, bringing an end to one of the most consistent coaching runs in modern NFL history.
